About International Customs Day

 

Instituted by the World Customs Organization (WCO), International Customs Day is held on January 26, which commemorates the day in 1953 when the inaugural session of the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) was held in Brussels, Belgium. Seventeen European countries attended this session. In 1994 the CCC was renamed World Customs Organization (WCO) and today custom organizations from 179 countries are WCO members.

Annually held on January 26, International Customs Day recognizes the role of custom officials and agencies in maintaining border security. It focuses on the working conditions and challenges that customs officers and agancies face in their jobs.

A brief report about paint and coatings production and trade in Turkey has been recently updated by Ministry of Economy.  According to the report, the Turkish Paint and coatings industry is one of the Europe’s biggest paint and coatings markets. The market share of Turkey in the global paint and coatings industry reached to %2 with a market size of 850.000 tons and the value of US$ 2 billion. Annual paint consumption per capita is 20 kg. About twenty five percent of the paint production in Turkey is exported. In 2013, the total value of paints and coatings exports reached US$ 765 million. The paints and coatings industry products are mainly exported to neighbouring countries and many other countries which have a dynamic construction sector, such as Iraq, Iran, Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, China and Turkmenistan.

As of July 2014, Customs of Istanbul,Turkey rank in the first place in foreign trade shares.

According to the provisional foreign trade data that has been prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Customs and Trade and Turkey Statistical Institute, according to data import and export; exports increased by 2.6% compared to July 2013 to 13 billion 402 million dollars, imports decreased by 13.5% while imports amounted to 19 billion 862 million dollars.

When we look at some of the companies registered in Istanbul, Turkey. Across Turkey 54% of imports and 52% of exports processes were carried out in İstanbul Turkey, during July 2014
